Hon Lianne Dalziel (LLB) is serving her second term as Mayor of Christchurch after serving for 23 years in the New Zealand Parliament, (1990-2013), the last four terms as MP for Christchurch East.
 
Holding a wide range of portfolios, Lianne served as a Cabinet Minister in the fifth Labour Government under Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Helen Clark, holding a number of portfolios, including Commerce and Small Business. Lianne chaired the Commerce Select Committee from 2008-2011.
 
Since the earthquakes, Lianne has become a champion of resilience, and has spoken at a number of national and international conferences on lessons learned from the experience of the Canterbury Earthquake Sequence.
 
Lianne was invited to serve on the UNISDR Parliamentarians Advisory Group on Disaster Risk Reduction in 2012.
